Michael Eades

Dr. Eades is the Chief Engineer at of the Tech Division and provides technical leadership on key projects. For more than a decade, he has been integral to the advancement of modern space nuclear systems and has authored more than 30 combined conference papers and journal articles on space nuclear topics. He has been involved in almost every NASA design reactor development effort since 2014 and was instrumental in establishing HALEU fueled space nuclear technology as a field of development. Before USNC, he was previously a visiting technologist at NASA Marshal Space Flight Center (MSFC) and Center for Space Nuclear Research (CSNR) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). While at USNC-Tech, Dr. Eades has lead projects from external customers such as Blue Origin, BWXT, and Aerojet-Rocketdyne.   He started at USNC in 2016 and was the second engineer on staff. He guided the rapid growth of USNC-Tech in 2020-2021 from 7 people to 41 people as Director of Engineering. At USNC, he initiated and set technical direction for USNC’s HALEU NTP systems, EmberCore, and Pylon reactor products.  He has represented USNC to media outlets including CNN, IEEE Spectrum, and The Economist.
